LARGE-SCALE RESEARCH
FOR BIG CONSERVATION ISSUES
The ACME lab researches large-scale ecological questions
to help solve some of the 21st century's big conservation challenges.

To conserve biodiversity, we need to know how wildlife species respond to rapid landscape and climate change.
That's where conservation macroecology comes in.

We research how these large-scale human-caused changes affect wildlife species' behaviour, populations, communities, and survival.

We partner with governments, industry, NGOs, and First Nations,
across Canada and beyond,
to help adapt research conclusions into good decisions
to conserve biodiversity.

'Acme' is greek for "peak"
- a nod to our extensive mountain research,
and the pride we take in our research
to inform better conservations decisions for wildlife.

ACME sits in the University of Victoria's
School of Environmental Studies,
and we partner with researchers around the world.

Our Research

From the northern wilds of Alberta to the urban wildlife in southern British Columbia, we're doing cutting edge research on wildlife and where they're found.
